A passenger on Delta Air Lines Flight 1714 was arrested for unauthorized opening of the aircraft’s emergency doors – with the help of an inflatable slide that worked automatically, he left the liner.
The incident occurred on Saturday at about 10:40 am, when the plane was preparing to take off. The Boeing 737 was still on the ground at Los Angeles International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The passenger exited the aircraft by activating the emergency exit and was detained by Delta personnel. He was then arrested by local law enforcement. The FAA official statement states, quotes CNN:
“All passengers have been transferred to another aircraft, we apologize for the inconvenience caused and the delay in their departure.”
Such incidents happen sometimes. For example, in June 2021, one of the passengers on the Los Angeles – Salt Lake City flight tried to enter the cockpit, and when he could not do this, he opened the emergency exit doors and jumped out to the runway. The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital in the city.
And a passenger on a flight to Antalya from Moscow Sheremetyevo opened the door of the plane in preparation for takeoff due to the fact that he became hot. This happened a year ago:
