On Sunday morning, two fishermen told the local port authorities that they had caught three sharks. When they began to gut them, to everyone’s horror, human remains were found in the stomach of one of them.
The investigation identified the missing person as Diego Barria, a 32-year-old father of three who was last seen driving a car along the coast of Argentina on 18 February. According to preliminary information, the man died as a result of a shark attack (New Caledonia beach).
The forensic examination examined the fragments of the body and found a tattoo. Only in this way it was possible to establish the identity of the deceased, writes lifo.gr. The Barria family was shown a photo of the tattoo, and they confirmed that they recognized the tattoo. However, DNA test results are pending for final confirmation.
Police do not know how the man ended up in the water. The investigation is ongoing.
