Tomorrow, Wednesday, December 7th, the announcement of a festive “family basket” in supermarkets is expected, and this will be followed by a “Santa Claus basket”, with toys and gifts for children (at discounted prices).
This is the policy of the Ministry of Development, aimed at fighting inflation and protecting low-income citizens. The “family basket” program is already in operation, and every week its composition is updated. “Santa Claus’ basket will soon be added to the holiday basket,” said Development Minister Adonis Georgiadis. According to what he said in an interview with Action 24, the two baskets will be valid from December 14th, with the giveaways valid until January 11th.
What will be included in the “baskets”: festive and “Santa Claus”? According to ERT, the “holiday family basket” will include turkey, but it looks like there will be no lamb and goat meat. There is also a problem with traditional sweets – melomakarona and kurabye, because, as they say in the Ministry of Development, there is a question of competition with confectionery and bakeries. As for the “children’s gift basket”, it will be available in stores that sell toys. And, as Mr. Georgiadis said, a set of goods “at a good price” will be formed depending on the age and gender of the child.
According to information OPEN“Santa Claus’s basket” will include board games, puzzle toys, dolls, children’s soft toys, constructors (educational), toy cars, joysticks, bicycles, street toys and imitators (puppet theater, “hospital”, “kitchen”, “garage”, railway road, etc.).
