The search for an elderly woman in Dendrochori (Kastoria) ended tragically.
Two days after she was reported missing, the elderly woman was found buried near the village sports ground (football field) and the house where she lived with her son.
The body was found at noon on Saturday (September 17) by police officers. According to preliminary information, all evidence indicates that she was buried in this place, but dogs or wild animals dug up the illegal burial.
The woman lived in Dendrochori with her son, who, according to available information, reported her disappearance to the police and was interrogated by the investigator.
The 46-year-old man reportedly became confused about his mother’s disappearance and was arrested on Sunday morning.
A forensic examination is expected to establish the exact circumstances and causes of the elderly woman’s death. It is possible that the death of a woman was the result of a criminal act, as well as the option that she died from pathological causes, and then someone buried her.
So far there is no official information from the police.
