Ukraine-Russia talks are gradually entering "dead end"

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, announced the growing problems in the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.

He says, Russian media reports, that Ukraine intends to discuss the status of Crimea and Donbass at a meeting of two presidents – Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky. Russia is not ready for this, Lavrov says:

“This idea is unacceptable.”

Lavrov also draws attention to the fact that in the new draft agreement with the Russian Federation, the Ukrainian side “obviously departs from the proposals made in Istanbul. There is no statement that Ukraine’s security guarantees do not apply to Crimea and Sevastopol.”

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry suggested that Kyiv “will put forward more and more preconditions in the negotiations” and considers this unacceptable, writes “The country”:

“Kyiv’s inability to negotiate characterizes its true intentions to delay and even undermine negotiations with Russia.”

However, Lavrov assures that the negotiations will continue. According to him, Washington is pushing Zelensky to continue hostilities. He does not rule out that Kyiv at the next stage of negotiations will ask to withdraw Russian troops.
