Fake #16

Video from the TV report presented with alleged deaths from Putin’s invasion of Ukraine

Rebuttal:

The people lying on the ground in the video in question are protesters against the current climate policy in Austria in early February 2022, before the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine later that month. The protesters symbolically show that they have died, which they believe is a consequence of the current climate policy. In the OE24 TV report, neither the channel’s correspondent nor the Austrian station itself presented the people lying dead as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Where it was published or distributed:

A short video from an Austrian TV channel has been leaked to the media and social media accounts, accompanied by claims that it reveals a falsified death toll in Ukraine during the Russian invasion at the end of February 2022, as it appears at the time of the report “resurrect” the dead lying wrapped in bag. However, this statement is false.

An example of a wide-ranging post shared by Greek Facebook accounts:

A video was also released: Where the material was taken from:

The video mentioned is taken from reporting Austrian TV channel OE24.TV on this topic demonstration-protest against the climate crisis policy that took place in Vienna on February 4, 2022, before the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The protesters weren’t represented as literally dead either by TV or by correspondent Martin Bergauer, as you can see in the full video of the report below:

Original report

The people lying on the ground are the demonstrators, symbolically personifying the deaths that they believe are caused or not prevented by the climate policy in force in their country.

This is also explained in the report (at 00:30) by the correspondent of the TV channel:

M. Bergauer: 49 people are lying on the ground, depicting the “dead from the climate.” (…) [И показать, что]according to a computer model, 49 people could die every day in Austria due to a climate catastrophe in the coming years.

After careful scrutiny of international news, we have not been able to find any mention of the incident as a real burial place for Ukrainians who died from the recent Russian invasion.

Conclusion

The people lying on the ground in the video in question are protesters against the current climate policy in Austria in early February 2022, before the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine later that month. The protesters symbolically represent the deaths they believe are caused or prevented by current climate policies. In the OE24 TV report, neither the channel’s correspondent nor the Austrian station itself presented the people lying dead as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Fake #17

Video from the series presented as evidence of violent scenes filmed in Ukraine

What is shown:

The video shows the actors preparing to shoot fake injury scenes in Ukraine.

Conclusion:

Although the people we see in the video in question are indeed actors, they have nothing to do with the current situation in Ukraine. In fact, these are footage from the filming of the Contamine series, which took place in December 2021.

The video, which is accompanied by a claim that it shows the use of make-up to show the wounded from Ukraine, has gone viral on Facebook. However, this claim is false as the video in question is from the filming of the series which took place in December 2021.

Video in question:

What methods are used

As analyzed by journalists from Istinomer And AFPthis is footage from the shooting German-Ukrainian series Contamine about the outbreak of a deadly pandemic. The main producers of the series are Harald Franklin And Daria Dryuchenkowho posted a lot of shots from the filming on various social networks.

In particular, Daria Dryuchenko, co-owner of the Ukrainian production company DRIU ProductionDecember 28, 2021 posted the video in question on her personal TikTok account with the joking caption “Zombie Movie”.

More content from the Contamine series, such as trailers and additional filming scenes, can be found at channel DRIU Production on YouTube and on the page in Facebook. Relevant material can be found on the Facebook feed D. Dryuchenko And Harald Franklin.

On the page company DRIU Production, we find the following photo from the filming of the series, in which we see the same young man who appears at the beginning of the video in question.

The same image is also enlarged compared to the snapshot from the video in question:

In addition, in the video with frames from the series, hosted by producer Harald Franklin on his channel on the Vimeo platform on February 3, 2022, we find the scene for which the girl shown in the video in question was preparing. Left: frame from 5:30 video .
Right: snapshot from 5:40.

As can be seen from the hairstyle and clothes, this is the same girl.

By messages on the company page DRIU Production and in the profile of series producer Harald Franklin, it is known that part the filming of the series took place in Kyiv, but they were not fully completed and aboutexpectedthat the series will be ready in 2022…

We began to live in a world where the “only correct point of view”, the source of which is either a party or a leader of a country, has disappeared. The more we try to refute someone else’s opinion, the more people hold onto it. For this reason, all television political talk shows designed to promote someone’s opinion are doomed to failure. The current era of political polarization, and sometimes hyper-polarization, does not allow this to be done. In Soviet times, propaganda was based on a single point of view from the leaders, who intensively stuffed this opinion into the brains of their citizens. However, to be honest, these were engaged, and no less, by their political opponents. Today, when there are many points of view, we have a completely different base, from which the old methods of influence do not work.
