Greek sailors in the Black Sea

In the situation with the war in Ukraine, the question arises: how many Greek sailors are now in the Black Sea, and whether they are in danger.

The issue was covered in detail in the Ministry of Shipping, referring to data from their sources. The information provided states that in the sea area of ​​the northern Black Sea (ports, anchorages and water areas of Ukraine and Russia) there are five ships under the Greek flag, with a total of 42 Greek sailors as part of the crew. In the southern part of the Black Sea there are 6 ships under the Greek flag, on board of which there are 44 Greek sailors.

Vessels with Greek sailors are located as follows: two in the Odessa port of Yuzhny, one in the port of Odessa, two at the anchorage in the Kerch Strait, one at the anchorage in Novorossiysk (Russia), two in the port of Novorossiysk, one on the way to the port of Novorossiysk, one in the port of Dnepro-Bugsky (10 miles south of the port of Nikolaev) and one in the port of Nikolaev, writes newsbeast.gr.

Minister of Shipping Yiannis Plakiotakis He speaks: “Our main priority is the safety of our sailors. Already at dawn on February 24, the operational headquarters of the Coast Guard was put on full alert and is in constant communication with the captains of the ships in the northern Black Sea, and appropriate instructions were given.”
