Two ambitious adventurers, ardent followers of Indiana Jones, arrived in Grevena in search of gold, but ended up in the detention center of the local police department.
Two treasure hunters were detained by the police authorities. The gold hunters were fully equipped with various tools for the relevant prospecting work and auxiliary tools for digging holes in places where they were believed to be hidden treasure.
These are two Greeks, aged 35 and 38, who were caught red-handed by the OPKE police during excavations.
The treasure hunters violated several provisions of the law “On the protection of antiquities and cultural heritage in general”, and also had 16 cartridges with them.
The detainees were taken to the Grevena security service. Authorities are conducting preliminary investigations to determine if they have carried out illegal excavations in other areas. A case was initiated against the treasure hunters, they were taken to the Grevena prosecutor’s office.
