Mandatory individual tests for opening schools and the trade market

The free distribution of self-assessment tests will begin in early April, with each citizen being eligible for one test per week.

A weekly rapid coronavirus test will be required for retailers, shops, restaurants, tourism and judicial authorities, as well as teachers and students, according to kathimerini.gr.

Free individual self-tests will appear in pharmacies in early April. At the same time, the possibility of an additional self test delivery will be taken into account in order not to create queues in pharmacies and to provide for all citizens. Priority will be given to persons under 67 years of age.

It is noted that every citizen will be entitled to one free testing per week.

In case of a positive result, the person will have to confirm the result with a second test in the public health structure, and his statement will be made on the selftesting.gov.gr platform.

The government’s strategy for conducting individual tests at home was announced yesterday by Deputy Minister of Health Vasilis Kontosamanis. He stressed that the measure, coupled with vaccinations, is what will allow safe resumption of economic activity and the opening of society, which will be reviewed by a committee of experts next week.

“For all other types of activities, the use of a self-diagnosis test will not be mandatory, except for its voluntary use and declaration by a citizen,” the official stressed, adding that “a separate electronic website has been created to announce a positive result, which will provide all useful information.”

He pointed out that the right to be absent from school or work is fully guaranteed by the second screening test.
