Mini lockdown in Zakynthos and Chania

In accordance with the recommendation of the Subcommittee on Infectious Diseases and the National Committee for the Protection of Public Health from Covid-19, in the context of the weekly epidemiological surveillance in the country conducted by the regional office and the municipality, the government is embarking on the adoption and implementation on the island of Zakynthos and in Chania (Crete) -lockdown, which was recently introduced on about. Mykonos.

The indicated areas have been turned red (hazard level 4) due to the increased epidemiological burden (+ 69% for Zakynthos and + 54% for Chania on a weekly basis).

In particular, from 06:00 on Friday 6 August, the following measures will be applied:

No traffic from 01:00 pm to 06:00 am, except for travel in the work plan and serious health problems (travel to the hospital). 24-hour ban on broadcasting music in catering establishments, etc.

These measures are valid until Friday 13 August and will be reviewed by the commission next week.

The experts also remind that in these areas, as well as throughout the country, it is prohibited to hold any public events in any form with the physical presence of more than 20 people.

The administrative fine in case of violation is from 50,000 to 200,000 euros for the owner or tenant of the premises in which the event took place.

It is also noted that the municipalities of Rhodes and Ieton (Ios) are rising to orange level 3, with increased surveillance.

At the same time, it is reported that in other parts of the country there is no alarming differentiation in terms of the burdened epidemiological burden.

The authorities are urging residents, guests of the country and professionals in the territories where the mini-lockdown has been temporarily introduced to adhere to the measures taken to control and limit the spread of the virus.
