In Russia, as experts predict, an increase in the price of olive oil from Greece is coming; its cost is expected to double.
It’s all because of the olive harvest failure. Greece is one of the main producers of olive oil in the world, it is considered one of the best. Spain and Italy buy it to add to their oil to improve the taste. The production volume of this product in Greece is approximately 300 thousand tons.
Spain produces approximately 1.4 million tons of olive oil, and it, as the main producer, sets prices for it. Another reason for the rise in price will be the drought in Spain and a significant reduction in oil production in all Mediterranean countries.
Greek farmers complain about low harvests writes GreekReporter. They are hoping for a colder weather so that the olives will fill up a little, but it still doesn’t come. While residents and guests of Greece are enjoying the unusually warm autumn, owners of plots with olive groves note very poor conditions for an already meager harvest.
