The net profit of the country’s largest international airport amounted to 188 million euros


Significant growth has been recorded in the financial performance of Athens International Airport as a result of the explosive growth in passenger traffic.

According to the interim consolidated financial statements for the 9 months from January to September, prepared for the purpose of distributing interim dividends, the country’s largest airport company recorded revenue of 436 million euros, a significant increase of 22% compared to 357 million euros in the corresponding period last year. .

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization were 322 million euros from 248 million euros in the corresponding period in 2022, and the company’s profit after tax was 188 million euros from 131.9 million euros in 2022, an increase of almost 42%.

As for its liabilities, for January-September they amounted to 1.73 billion euros compared to 1.46 billion euros for the nine months of 2022. Long-term liabilities amount to 338 million euros, loans – 980.8 million euros, debts – 980.8 million euros. It is noted that “other short-term liabilities” amount to a total of 413.3 million euros.

In general, over 9 months, the airport’s passenger traffic reached 21.68 million people, an increase of 25.7% compared to 2022, and also by 8.6% compared to 2019 (a record year). Both domestic and international passenger traffic exceeded 2022 levels by 20.3% and 28.3%, respectively, and also showed growth compared to 2019 by 11.3% and 7.3%, respectively.

As for flights, their number in the first nine months of 2023 reached 186,174, an increase of 12.9% compared to 2022 and 5.1% compared to 2019 levels.

The number of both domestic and international flights increased by 7.8% and 17.4% compared to 2022, and by 9.1% and 2.2% compared to 2019, reflecting strong demand for Greece, especially to Athens as a destination.
