shock: none "special" there will be no easter gift

The government is canceling the one-time Easter gift (δώρο Πάσχα), as Deputy Finance Minister Theodoros Skilakakis just announced.

It is unlikely that low-income pensioners, recipients of child benefits and minimum guaranteed income (EEE-KEA) will receive an additional Easter gift. As quoted by the Deputy Minister of the publication dikaiologitika.gr“it is unlikely that an emergency payment will be made in connection with Easter.”

Speaking on Parapolitika radio, he stressed: “We don’t have a package allocated from the budget (funds for this). In addition, we will not have an election period that will be based on taxpayer money. We have always taken measures based on the existing budget. This stage is completed. We have very little stock left., for any small adjustments here and there that are needed. But nothing pre-election (“appeasement” – author’s note) will not be done. The Prime Minister said it clearly, and I, as the person in charge of the government’s financial strategy, say the same to you.”

In closing, the Deputy Minister of Finance said: “There is no such thing as an Easter present. Each time it is given, it is a “one-time” action. We introduced to make life easier for citizens, market pass, and also “covered large needs” – made payments to pensioners. That’s all for now.”
