Taverns in Athens serving delicious lamb ribs

Το Ρεμούτσικο

The tavern was opened in 1982, when Kostas Dimas decided to turn his father’s house, located in the immediate vicinity of the Church of St. Demetrius, into a catering establishment. With his two sons continuing the family tradition, he cooks juicy ribs, roast lamb, dishes that simply melt in your mouth. They also grill sausages, fried pancetta, tenderloin steaks and other meat dishes.

Κεφαλονίτης

Kefalonitis is the first tavern opened by the owner in Kastella. The corner food service store puts tables directly on the sidewalk in good weather. Despite the fact that the area is a popular meeting place, many people prefer to combine business with pleasure, talk, and at the same time have a good meal. The tavern is famous for its excellent grilled ribs and juicy baked liver. Here, according to gourmets, they serve one of the best french fries, cheese croquettes and crispy zucchini.

Paidakia and lamb cooked on charcoal are juicy and tasty. Homemade prosunto (dried maso) served with spicy Florini pepper paste and grilled lamb. Also, there is always fried liver, offal on a spit (kokoretsi, garduba), meatballs and other yummy. Assorted dishes: beef cutlets, steaks, black boar ham fillets and much more. In winter, in cold weather, they cook a delicious soup – khash.

Κουτρούλης

The cellar tavern of Georgios has been operating for over 50 years. Fireplace, traditional tablecloths, many ceramic plates decorating the walls create an atmosphere of “the past”, which is immortal. Start by ordering the twisted cheese pie (στριφτή τυρόπιτα), a seasonal salad, a must-have deep-fried potato, but don’t forget to leave room for the garduba and cabbage rolls (dolme), because it’s all followed by the main course: lamb ribs. All meat, like the ribs, is cut and cooked on the spot, at the time of order. As soon as you hear the sound of a cleaver in the kitchen, know that your order has already been prepared.
