Great success has been achieved by the Greek cognac (grape brandy) METAXA, which is recognized as the second best-selling in the corresponding category of alcoholic beverages according to Drinks International Report 2024 and the third best-selling brandy in the fashion brand category.
METAXA has risen one place higher than last year, proving its resounding success in the highly competitive world of trading. Although formally, due to its composition, Metaxa cannot be called cognac, in essence it is one.
Metaxa is produced in Greece, and not in Charente, which means it has no legal right to be called cognac. De facto, Metaxa is produced using classical technology with mandatory aging in oak barrels. The Greek company uses cognac distillates in the recipe, aged for 5-12 years.
Nevertheless, in international rankings the brand is among the best-selling brandies and cognacs, and this is justified. 9% of bars surveyed chose METAXA as their “top preference.”
The survey polled bartenders and bar owners from 100 of the world’s most influential drinking establishments and asked them to select the top 3 spirits in each category. These are outstanding bars, each with their own success story. Ranked by The Word and Tales of the Cocktail’s Spirited Awards, as well as awards from local bodies such as Asia’s 50 Best Bars, Drink Magazine’s Bar Awards, Germany’s Mixology Awards and the Australian Bartenders’ Awards, these bars are setting trends in the drinks industry .
