The Greek government has officially announced the hours when household consumers should save electricity.
Minister of Energy and Environment Kostas Skrekas, during a briefing on electricity subsidies, stressed that citizens should engage in energy conservation. The Minister indicated these hours from 18:00 to 21:00 pm. Between these hours, citizens should not widely use energy-intensive appliances and devices.
Subsidies for electricity at the place of residence of citizens, without income criteria and regardless of suppliers:
- consumption up to 500 kilowatt/hour: feed-in tariff of 238 euros per megawatt-hour (the subsidy covers 90% of electricity price increases),
- from 501 to 1000 kilowatt-hours, the feed-in tariff (subsidy) is 188 euros per megawatt-hour. If a household reduces consumption by 15% compared to 2021, the subsidy will increase by €50 per MWh,
- over 1000 kWh the subsidy is 50 euros per MWh.
- A feed-in tariff (subsidy) is set at EUR 286 per MWh for households included in the Social household tariff (KOT).
Recall that the authorities are considering the option supermarket opening hours changes in order to save energy on a large scale.
