A victim of purple jellyfish spoke about what happened to her

Purple jellyfish have become a “nightmare” for those who want to swim in the sea, because they are now “everywhere”.

A woman who was stung by a similar jellyfish on the beach in Salamis spoke about her painful experience, reports dikaiologitika.gr. In what areas have you seen a lot of jellyfish

According to data for the last ten days on the iNaturalist platform, most of the jellyfish are located in the Saronic Gulf, extending to the Argolic and Cyclades Islands, the Ionian Sea, the South Peloponnese, northwest Crete and the 1st part of Chalkidiki. Slightly fewer jellyfish have been recorded in other parts of Greece, including the islands.

What to do if you are attacked by a jellyfish?

The expert advises swimmers, if there are too many jellyfish, to avoid immersion in water, as there is a high probability that you will be stung. Jellyfish Pelagia noctiluca is considered one of the most dangerous species in the Mediterranean. Its bite is very painful due to the neurotoxin contained in the stinging cells.

Campers should be very well informed about what to do if they get “burned”.
