The day after tomorrow in Britain will vote for the resignation of Boris Johnson

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is about to be fired. Voting will take place on June 8th.

According to Sunday Times, British MPs have enough votes to put forward a vote of confidence in the Prime Minister. Letters with a corresponding request were submitted by 54 deputies from the Conservatives. Despite the fact that such a procedure is a secret, 28 of them have already announced this publicly, calling on the prime minister to resign voluntarily.

The problems arose from the Partygate scandal – the Johnson government was accused of organizing alcohol parties during the COVID-19 pandemic, at a time when gatherings were banned across the country. And although the prime minister initially rejected personal involvement in them, a recent investigation has shown that he was trying to hide the truth.

This led to a drop in Johnson’s rating – according to a ConservativeHome poll, he is at the bottom of the “cabinet table” of party members. Reports say Britons have a job satisfaction rating of minus 15 points.

The prime minister himself claims that he is ashamed, he repents and accepts responsibility, but, nevertheless, refuses to leave his post. The failure of the vote of confidence will inevitably lead to the resignation of the prime minister, but there may not be enough votes for this. In this case, within a year, new votes of confidence against him will become impossible.

In Britain and its political system, responsibility for certain rules and regulations is an important part of the political accountability of any politician. Therefore, from the very beginning of the introduction of quarantine, society has been closely following this conservative government – many of its members (including the prime minister himself) were known for their free attitude to public rules and norms.

After the disclosure in The Guardian and other media of information about the first parties of the prime minister, the reaction was instantaneous and extremely harsh.
