Greek law enforcement agencies were put on alert Tuesday after a high-ranking Greek police officer (ELAS) improvised device exploded.
The bomb was made from four canisters of gas, commonly used in Greece to make coffee or heat food, connected together and detonated with a fuse.
The explosion occurred at about 2:30 am after the device was installed at the entrance of an apartment building where the deputy head of the ELAS state security department lives.
The explosion caused a small fire, which was extinguished by firefighters, it did not cause significant damage to the building and did not injure residents. An investigation is underway to determine if the explosion was a message to an ELAS officer or could have been caused by another reason.
According to cnngreece, a high-ranking policeman dealt with the topic of anarchists. Judging by the nature of the explosive device, it was a warning on their part.
