Thessaloniki: 49-year-old woman cut her veins and jumped from the 5th floor balcony

A 49-year-old woman from Xirokrini in Thessaloniki decided to commit suicide: she cut her wrists and jumped from the balcony of the 5th floor of a residential building.

As soon as the woman fell to the ground, there was pandemonium at the scene. An ambulance quickly arrived, but rescuers were unable to revive her. According to preliminary data, the woman committed suicide. Police have ruled out the possibility of murder and are awaiting a forensic report.

According to local media reports, the woman tried to commit suicide in her apartment in an apartment building on Stamatiou Regugu Street in Xirokrini by cutting the veins in her hands. Then she went out onto the balcony of the apartment and fell down. The police, as well as a group from the department for combating crimes against life of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate, went to the scene and ruled out the possibility of a criminal act.

The Diawat forensic department is expected to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
