Deputy Minister on Fines, Certificates and the Fourth Dose of Vaccination

Deputy Health Minister Mina Ganga spoke about fines for not vaccinating older people and other changes to coronavirus measures.

She noted that the fines fulfilled their mission: “Thousands of people over 60 have been vaccinated, and we expect even more in the summer, by autumn.” Therefore, the fine of 100 euros for unvaccinated people over 60 will cease to apply from 15 April. This was also announced yesterday by Health Minister Thanos Pleuris.

Regarding the cancellation of the vaccination certificate, Ms. Gaga spoke unequivocally: “Now the question of this is not worth it.” All the speculation that was expressed in the media was not based on official government reports: “This is not the decision that we made.”

On the issue of suspending the work of unvaccinated health workers, Ms Gaga did not want to make any predictions. But she emphasized that all kinds of vaccines are now available, and even if some people were unnecessarily afraid of the mRNA vaccine, they can now choose a vaccine of a different technology.

Ms Gaga was asked about the 4th dose of the vaccine, to which she replied that antibodies disappear after a certain period of time, especially in older people and patients at risk. But as far as the general population is concerned, there is no such problem: “We are in the stage of a ‘managed outbreak of a pandemic’,” he was quoted as saying. newsbeast.gr.
