The Hellenic Committee of Epidemiology on Wednesday gave the green light to reducing the number of weekly tests for vaccinated students and teachers, as well as increasing the capacity of sports stadiums.
Deputy Minister of Health Mina Ganga told on the abolition of fines for the lack of vaccination for the elderly (but only from April 15) and other changes in measures against coronavirus.
The committee recommended that teachers and students be allowed to self-examine only once a week, instead of two until now.
The measures will be introduced from April 1, 2022.
In terms of sporting events and spectators, the committee decided to remove any capacity restrictions and allow 100% full capacity.
The corresponding joint ministerial decision will be published in the coming days with all the details.
At a meeting on Wednesday, the committee did not take a decision on further easing of other measures and restrictions.
Deputy Minister of Health Mina Ganga told on the abolition of fines for the lack of vaccination for the elderly (but only from April 15) and other changes in measures against coronavirus.
She noted that the fines fulfilled their mission: “Thousands of people over 60 have been vaccinated, and we expect even more in the summer, by autumn.” Therefore, a fine of 100 euros for unvaccinated over 60 years of age will cease to operate from April 15. This was also announced yesterday by Health Minister Thanos Pleuris.
Regarding the cancellation of the vaccination certificate, Ms. Gaga spoke unequivocally: “Now the question of this is not worth it.” All the speculation that was expressed in the media was not based on official government reports: “This is not the decision that we made.”
On the issue of suspending the work of unvaccinated health workers, Ms Gaga did not want to make any predictions. But she emphasized that all kinds of vaccines are now available, and even if some people were unnecessarily afraid of the mRNA vaccine, they can now choose a vaccine of a different technology.
Ms Gaga was asked about the 4th dose of the vaccine, to which she replied that antibodies disappear after a certain period of time, especially in older people and patients at risk. But for the general population, no such problem: “We are in the stage of a ‘managed outbreak of a pandemic'”, quotes newsbeast.gr.
