Rescue of migrants in the Paros area

A large-scale rescue operation took place in the Aegean Sea. A boat carrying 100 Afghan migrants sank off the coast of the Greek island of Paros, alarming authorities and the coast guard.

According to the information, 100 migrants were sent from Afghanistan to Italy. Everyone on the boat was rescued after a massive Coast Guard operation. There were no children among the migrants. The ship was at sea for many days. Details are yet to be revealed, newsbreak.gr.

The Minister of Navigation and Island Policy was immediately informed of this incident and ordered that all necessary means be deployed in the disaster area to carry out a rescue operation. The results will be announced in a new official press release. As noted:

“This is a reality – the exploitation of immigrants by criminal gangs in the Aegean. Unscrupulous traffickers endanger their lives in heavily loaded, unnavigable boats. These incidents should not take place. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the Greek Coast Guard, the situation, especially in the warm season, is only getting worse. Illegals have been rescued, they are being examined and, if necessary, treated on land.”
