Climate Summit: Macron interrupted for Putin’s speech

The first day of the online climate summit was accompanied by technical failures – the French leader’s speech was interrupted for a speech by the Russian president, APE-MPE reports.

Technical breakdowns followed the speeches of other participants – Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison had his microphone turned off, and Kamala Harris had problems with the sound of the microphone at the beginning of her speech.

When French President Macron spoke, drawing attention to the importance of combating global warming, his pre-recorded speech was interrupted for a live speech by Vladimir Putin, RIA Novosti reported. However, the US Secretary of State apologized for the technical failure and, after the Russian president, re-included Emmanuel Macron’s speech.

However, organizational inconsistencies did not prevent the discussion of the most important issues for the fate of the planet. In his speech, Vladimir Putin called on all states to take part in joint scientific research and jointly invest in significant climate projects.

His performance was appreciated by the US administration. John Kerry, the US president’s special envoy for climate change, said that the Russian president at the summit “outlined progressive ideas that allow us to work together.” In an interview with reporters, he noted the “rationality” of the head of the Russian Federation. Kerry’s words are quoted by TASS:

“He expressed some worthy progressive ideas about those issues that we can certainly explore and cooperate with each other. And he talked about this opportunity. “
