“Trick” with foil: how robbers deceive elderly people, taking away their money and jewelry

An elderly woman is robbed by criminals who manage to deceive her and take her money and jewelry.

“Suddenly a young man appears and comes here. I ask what you need? He says that we have come to change the breadwinner.”– Sultana said in an interview with the TV channel.

Mrs. Sultana took the elevator down and up to her apartment. Having inserted the keys into the door, she saw an unknown person next to her. I speak: “What do you need, sir?“. He says: “Show me your electrical panel”. The criminal, posing as a technician, entered the house with her. The elderly woman did not understand what was happening and demanded an explanation. None of the residents of the apartment building told her that they were going to change their electricity supplier.

“He tells me: “Could you give me some foil?” I make a move and he says, “Cut me a piece.”. The perpetrator forced her to open the kitchen door and placed foil next to it. He placed a 20 euro bill on top of the foil. He then told her that she had problems with the electrical voltage.

“So he told me to put everything that was gold and money on a piece of foil. I put the watch. He says to me: 'Do you have any more gold?' Diamond earrings?”. He told her that only gold wrapped in foil would be protected while they were working on energy. The woman followed his instructions. She put her jewelry in foil along with the money. She hid them in a drawer, and then a second man entered her apartment.

“There was another one who came in for two seconds and said: 'Dionysi, everything is fine.'. And left. He left the door ajar and said, “I'll be back in two minutes.” I'll wait half an hour.” Both criminals leave like gentlemen. They never return as technicians, and then the 77-year-old woman goes upstairs to ask if they are there.

I tell him: “Costa, gentlemen from the provider, have you come? No, he tells me, no one came, and I immediately decided that something bad had happened.”. But when I realized what happened, it was already too late. The criminals fled, taking with them all the valuables that were in her house.

“The Rolex certainly has material value, but most of all it has sentimental value because it is a gift to my daughter. I can't be afraid of my shadow all the time. I could have a heart attack from boredom.”

Since that day, this woman has not been able to sleep. Police are examining cameras in the area, but the 77-year-old woman's shock is unlikely to go away.
