The French talked about the script "trench warfare" with the Russians on the outskirts of Odessa

France appears to continue to consider scenarios of sending troops to Ukraine, despite clear warnings from Russia and the challenges, particularly economic and social, it faces domestically.

Thus, after E. Macron’s statements, well-known media in the country reveal the main plan, which provides for trench warfare with Russian troops.

According to Le Figarothere are 5 such scenarios:

  • Scenario 1: France creates factories in Ukraine
  • Scenario 2: Soldiers undergo cleaning, training and use special equipment
  • Scenario 3: defense of Odessa
  • Scenario 4: French Army creates a defense zone
  • Scenario 5: Trench warfare.

In scenario 3, troops are planned to enter Odessa, and in scenario 4, according to national television, the French army creates a defensive zone. In other words, it is sending troops to relieve Ukrainian soldiers of certain tasks, such as defending the Belarusian border, which is expected to allow them to focus on other hotspots along the front. This fourth scenario may well provoke a direct conflict with Russia, as well as the fifth, which involves a trench confrontation, that is, French troops fighting the Russians along with the Ukrainians.

The regiment that was part of Napoleon’s “Great Army” in Russia will fight the Russians. According to information published in the French media, the 126th Infantry Regiment (126 Régiment d'Infanterie) is actively preparing to participate in the armed conflict in Ukraine on the side of Kyiv. The regiment, which is currently based in the New Aquitaine region in the city of Brive-la-Gaillarde, has about 1,200 troops, and is also currently recruiting another 200 reservists, reports EADaily.

He is considered one of the best combat units of the French army and is equipped with VBMR Griffon multi-role armored personnel carriers, which replaced the outdated VAB in 2018. The regiment's combat symbol is the bison, and its motto is “Fier et vaillant” (“Proud and Valiant”).

It is interesting to note that the 126th Infantry Regiment was first raised as an independent tactical unit in 1810 and participated in the invasion of Russia in 1812 as part of Napoleonic army. In 1813, the soldiers of the regiment who survived clashes with the Russian army were included in the 123rd Infantry Regiment.

Since then, the 126th Regiment has been disbanded and recreated several times. It is part of the 9th Infantry Brigade, 1st Division “troupes de marine” – a part of the French army designed to participate in combat operations outside of Europe or for rapid deployment to distant theaters of war.
