Skopelos, one of nine Mediterranean islands that have retained their authenticity and will be offered for quality holidays in 2024, remains at the top of German tourist preferences for another year.

According to a new survey by the popular website Travelbook.de, the largest online travel magazine in Germany and published under the Bild stamp, Skopelos ranks fifth on the list.

“Everyone knows Crete, Mallorca and Sardinia. But have you ever heard of Cres, Skopelos, Cabrera or Kavalos? Travelbook has identified Mediterranean destinations that still offer true relaxation,” the publication writes. Among the islands of Italy, France, Croatia, Spain, Greece and Malta Skopelos ranks fifth average and stands out for its turquoise waters, countless coves, traditions and unparalleled natural beauty.

“Our priority is to highlight all the elements that make Skopelos unique, such as culture, alternative activities, picturesque villages, rugged coastlines and excellent local products. Thanks to a number of planned contacts during our recent participation in the ITB tourism fair in Berlin, the preference of German tourists and professionals for unconventional destinations such as Skopelos has been confirmed,” said Eva Karamesini, President of the Tourism Committee of the Municipality of Skopelos.

It is noted that 2023 was a record year for the destination with total arrivals of 169,216 and an increase of approximately 17% compared to the previous year. In connection with the new season, it is noteworthy that quality hotels in Skopelos are included in the new Tourism for All 2024 program, which aims to strengthen this area of ​​the Greek economy.
