Residents and guests of Karystos were incredibly surprised when they saw a festive procession of cavalrymen and carriages dressed in costumes of a bygone era on the streets of the city.
On 25 March, a special parade was held in Karystos, Evia, as the equestrian section of the Karystos Association “Φιλ-ίπποι” (Ιππικού Συλλόγου Καρύστου) took part in events marking the anniversary of the 1821 Revolution.
The club first took part in the parade in 2014, wanting to revive the image of the cavalry, the warriors who took part in the revolution of 1821. In 2016, the association also took part in the parade on October 28. In addition, the club also took part in the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821, opening a parade in front of the Monument to the Unknown Soldier on Syntagma Square in 2021. It must be admitted that the parade in Karystos is a very original event for the date of March 25th.
