Athena Onassis: the real reason she doesn't come to Greece

The reason why Athena Onassis does not want to visit the homeland of her ancestors has been revealed.

Athena's life came under the spotlight even before she was born. The “golden” heiress, the granddaughter of Aristotle Onassis, is sometimes characterized as a frightened girl, but also as a person with a tough character.

Alexis Manteakis, a longtime representative of the Onassis family, previously spoke about the heiress, her relationship with her father and the reason why she does not want to visit Greece. “The only time I saw Athena cry was because of a letter from her mother,” says Manteakis. – When I asked Thierry Roussel what happened, he told me: “We stayed up all night and I read her a letter from her mother and she was very touched and cried.”

Also, a representative of the Onassis family expressed bitterness that Athena did not help him at a difficult moment in his life. “She's an incredibly tough person. But I didn't expect that it would extend to the emotional part, which has to do with human relationships with third parties. When I learned that Athena was getting divorced, I provided her with the information I had about Dodi and his extramarital affair. Later, when my wife fell ill, I asked Athena for help. Through her lawyer, she told me that she is not giving a single euro. I have nothing to say to Athena, I have closed the chapter. I was next to her as if she were my daughter. But having grown up, Athena chose the path of loneliness and isolation, which I do not want to follow,” Alexis Manteakis also noted. It seems that Athena seriously believes in the “curse of the Onassis family” and does not want to belong “in any way” to her unfortunate ancestors.

Currently, the “golden heiress” of the Onassis family is taking a new professional step. According to French media reports, she became a member of the board of directors of a large French supermarket chain. The French newspaper LES ECHOS reports that “the new council will include a former deputy minister and Onassis heiress.” The change in group management will take place following the completion of the capital increase, which will see control transferred to a consortium comprising Daniel Kretinsky, Fimalac, Marc Ladrea de Lacharrière's holding company and the British fund Attestor. The consortium will control 52% of the capital, while secured creditors and bondholders will control 25%.
