President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that today, Thursday, March 21, 2024, he had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis, dedicated to Greek air defense systems.
Ukraine is extremely interested in receiving the Russian Tor-M1, OSA-AK/AKM and S-300PMU-1 air defense systems in service with Greece, and judging by the constantly incoming reports, the topic of obtaining them is at the center of discussion.
But what will Greek air defense be left with if, in addition, their deployment will create a serious problem in relations with Russia?

“I spoke with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis about the implementation of our agreements reached during his recent visit to Ukraine, as well as our ongoing defense cooperation, especially regarding strengthening our air defense.”Zelensky wrote in a message on his personal account on the X website.
“On March 6 in Odessa, Prime Minister Mitsotakis was able to see firsthand the importance of reliable protection of our skies.”the Ukrainian president added, referring to a Russian missile strike a few hundred meters from the Greek mission in the Ukrainian city during the visit of the Greek prime minister.
As a result of the rocket attack that day, five people were killed in Odessa, and Zelensky himself said that “The possibility that the attack was directed against him or Kyriakos Mitsotakis cannot be ruled out.”
“In addition, I informed him of the Russian strike on Kyiv this morning. We also agreed to accelerate work on a bilateral security agreement based on the G7 Vilnius Declaration,” – says the conclusion of the message of the Ukrainian president.
