Opportunity for right-wing parties: what they expect, what they hope for and the “traps” of the European elections

There is a great opportunity for the Greek right-wing parties to have all three together – “Ελληνική Λύση”, “Νίκη” and “Σπαρτιάτες” – crossed the “threshold” of 20%.

This is because European elections are by definition “free” process in which a voter can send warning signals to the party for which he voted and even without “obligations” in relation to the new party for which he will vote at that moment.

On the ballot, if the trend is falling level of trust To “New Democracy” remains, right-wing parties have a chance of receiving 20% of the vote. And the big question is whether Ilias Kasidiaris will have time to become more active, and whether a party will appear that will express his position. If this happens, we could see figures close to 25% in three or four right-wing parties.

The law on LGBTQ+ marriages and their adoption of children causes enormous electoral damage to ND, while Tempi, on the contrary, does not give votes to the opposition.

What do right-wing parties count and hope for, and what are the “traps” of the European elections?

Of course, the question remains open what will happen if Kasidiaris resumes his political activity. Will he get out of prison? Will the Kasidiaris party appear? It is not easy in the sense that there is too much at stake to release him from prison before the European elections.

We don’t know if the government will want him to be released and run against him with his own party. Most likely, it won’t want to. What is certain is that he will gain a good percentage and alienate even more dissatisfied voters from New Democracy, since then all right-wing parties together will actually “gain” 25%. It is no coincidence that Ilias Kasidiaris, in connection with his request for parole, remains silent in his public statements.

Regarding the three right-wing parliamentary parties

“Spartans” (“Σπαρτιάτες”) cannot convince the public of the “toughness” of the right, although after the departure of three deputies – Yiannis Dimitrokallis, Charalambos Katsivardas and Ioannis Kontis – calm was restored in the party.

Nicky (“Νίκη”) opened to journalists and artists – it is clear that the party is striving for wider coverage of society; It is unclear whether this will bring her political benefits.

Regarding the “Greek Solution” (“Ελληνική Λύση”) and Kyriakos Velopoulos, then everything will depend on whether she presents a strong European candidate, and whether she can articulate a creative political discourse and a role that goes beyond the accusatory.
