Deepfake porn videos have flooded Greece (video)

In Greece, they are concerned about a new trend – with the help of artificial intelligence, attackers are creating fake pornographic videos.

How tells Euronews, fake racy videos are created based on the available data of the selected victim. Attackers find photos or videos on the Internet, and then use AI to turn them into pornographic videos. In this case, it is the most vulnerable – minors – who suffer the most. Cyber ​​Security Institute founder Manolis Sfakianakis says:

“AI has made it easier for attackers. They find artificial intelligence tools that are very easy to use and do not require complex training. They take your photos, your face and put it in an erotic video. They post this video on various platforms. Their goal is revenge, ransom or just for fun. We have hundreds of cases where children’s faces were used in fake videos that were distributed among classmates.”

It all started about three years ago – then the first case in Greece of using artificial intelligence to create a fake sex video was recorded. The victim was a minor schoolgirl, and the perpetrator was her classmate. The results of the investigation into that case shocked the authorities, says Cyber ​​X CEO Kelly Ioannou:

“A classmate took photos from her social media and used them in a way to make it seem like the victim was in a sex tape. When the investigation was completed, we found out that the victim was the top student in her class and the perpetrator was the second best student, and he just wanted to discredit her.”

Over the past ten years, the number of privacy violations in Greece has tripled. The government is preparing a new law that will help victims remove fake material from the Internet as quickly as possible.
