Reckless "got burned" on TikTok

Two videos posted on social networks led to the launch of a coordinated investigation by the traffic control and prevention teams of the Attica Traffic Authority and the initiation of criminal proceedings against two individuals.

In particular, the videos were taken by drivers who, holding a mobile phone in their hand, develop extreme speed, rushing along the Athens-Sounio embankment. At speeds of 220 kilometers per hour they were found on the new Athens-Corinth highway, at the heights of the Megara region, while high speeds were also recorded on other busy highways.

The videos they wanted to share with their online friends ended up in the hands of the authorities. So the traffic police, after a thorough investigation, determined what kind of cars they were and identified their owners.

Next, the location of two drivers was established, against whom a criminal case was opened for systematic violation of Article 290A of the Criminal Code (dangerous driving): speeding, dangerous maneuvers, illegal overtaking, violation of the double dividing line, using a mobile phone while driving.

The worst thing is that these drivers endangered themselves and others, while rushing to advertise their “achievements.” The video footage shows that at some point the speed of the vehicle is… 292 km/h!

Let us remind you that “races” are regularly held on the coastal highway; the police catch and punish reckless drivers who are not at all worried about the safety of their own lives, but also of other law-abiding road users.
