On Friday morning, a shooting occurred in the Athens district of Nicaea in which a 64-year-old father-in-law killed his 40-year-old son-in-law and then committed suicide.
The incident occurred a few minutes after 08:00 at 25 Kiziku Street. According to reports, the son-in-law lived there with his family.
National Police officers arrived on the scene and found two men dead in the street near the garage of one of the houses.
The police quickly learned that the father-in-law had fired a gun and killed his son-in-law, and then turned the barrel on himself, pulled the trigger and committed suicide. According to the preliminary version, the man came from Thessaloniki, where he had recently separated from his wife, and believed that she was staying at the house of their daughter and son-in-law. Then a quarrel occurred between the men, as a result of which the father-in-law shot his son-in-law with a hunting rifle.
The area has been cordoned off by police as they continue to investigate the exact cause of the killing. This is the second such crime in the last few days: on February 24, a 69-year-old man shot and killed his 57-year-old son-in-law in the Agia Varvara area.
