Olaf Scholz criticized Putin’s interview

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called Putin’s interview with Tucker Carlson “completely absurd”, expressing his opinion on Twitter (X).

According to Scholz, during his visit to Washington, the Russian president told an “absolutely absurd story” about the reasons for the Russian invasion of Ukraine, writes DW, quoting the German chancellor:

“This interview is a mockery of the real deeds committed by Russia in Ukraine. Putin is telling an absolutely absurd story about the causes of this war. There is an absolutely clear reason – this is the desire of the Russian president to annex part of Ukraine. And all the stories that are told about this do not change anything regarding the fact that this is precisely the goal of his imperialist aspirations. The war in Ukraine can end at any moment, but not in the way the Russian president imagines – through the capitulation of Ukraine, but as a result of the fact that he himself stops the war and creates conditions for peaceful solution.”

IN interview Tucker Carlson, released on the evening of February 8, Putin again defended the Russian invasion of Ukraine and called it impossible for Russia to lose the war, and also denied plans to attack NATO countries such as Poland and Lithuania.
