At least 18 bullets were fired at Christos Gialias. "His bodyguard was not with him"

The investigation into a new mafia murder that occurred last night in Mandre is in full swing: one of the leaders of the largest mafia structure in Greece, Christos Gialias, fell dead from machine gun fire at point-blank range on Agia Ekaterini Street, a few tens of meters from his home.

59 year old Christ Gialias, shot On February 7th from a Kalashnikov AK-47 in Mandre, he was one of the main suppliers of meat to camps for illegal immigrants, which helped him very quickly expand his company and even move its headquarters to Milan.

The criminals shot the victim with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, firing at least 18 bullets, and then set the mafioso’s car on fire. Police reportedly found 18 shell casings and one bullet at the scene.

“His bodyguard was not with him”
A resident of the area, speaking to the media, said that he heard shots. “Usually there was a bodyguard next to Christ, but yesterday he was not. I heard the fire brigade arrive, went up to the roof and saw the flames. After some time, we found out what happened. Earlier, I saw a black car that drove into the alley and at lightning speed disappeared”he said.

The lack of personal security for the businessman, according to witnesses, is one of the elements under the microscope of the National Police. Because this may lead to the conclusion that the criminals carried out a well-organized plan, perhaps knowing that the victim would be alone. In addition, the mafioso’s housekeeper also confirms that he always had security with him.

The investigation to establish the identity of the criminals continues, police are collecting witness statements and recordings from surveillance cameras in the area, which may shed light on the movements and routes of the criminals. The police denied reports that the criminals’ car, in which they fled, was found burnt.

By a very “strange” coincidence, it turned out that 44-year-old Vangelis Zambunis, known under the pseudonym “Zambon”, who shot from ambush at the gas station he owned in the Neos Kosmos district of Athens, was close partner company “PITRIS RESTAURANT SA”, which is the largest supplier of food to camps for illegal immigrants on the islands and mainland.

Christos Gialias, executed in Mandra, was the owner of the famous and internationally recognized companies FARMA KATERINA, G&G, G-EXPRESS, BELLA GRECO, based in Milan, which employed more than 2000 people. Of course, quite by chance, the headquarters of the Albanian mafia is also located in Milan.

Gialias was also the owner of the AO Trikala team, the ΠΑΕ Πανελευσινιακός football club and the Mandraikos football team. He was also a close associate of the Pietris group (“PITRIS RESTAURANT SA”), which was mentioned earlier.

If we put all the pieces of the puzzle together, we can safely say that Christos Gialias was one of the heads (or “godfather”, according to the Hollywood interpretation) of a large mafia structure, closely connected with the Albanian mafia and competing with other mafia groups, for which, probably, was executed in a series of events now mafia wars.

Also noteworthy is the business of Gialias, which was associated with the supply of meat products to camps and shelters for refugees and illegal migrants throughout Greece, which obviously did not happen without serious patrons (or large bribes) in the relevant ministries.

Murder of ex-wife

In 2018, his ex-wife Frederica Karzi was killed outside her home during a robbery. The criminals installed a GPS tracker on her car to track her movements, and on the night of the murder they attacked her as she was returning from the Loutraki casino, apparently thinking that there was a large sum of money in her bag.

The unfortunate woman was shot twice at close range, and during the investigation it turned out that there was only one watch in the bag, which was of some value.

The murder was attributed to a 43-year-old resident of Vrilisya, however, judging by the words of Histos Gialias, he clearly knew what it really was. While the period of mafia wars began, in which many of the leaders of the Greek underworld were killed. And the death of his ex-wife was clearly a warning for Christos Gialias.
