2-year-old child injured in road accident in Crete dies

Doctors fought to the last for the life of two-year-old Nikos from Crete, but the injuries he received in an accident left him no chance of survival.

His 59-year-old grandmother, who was driving on that fateful day, also died in the hospital. The traffic accident occurred on January 28 at the Lygaria turnoff to Heraklion in Crete. The car in which the child, his mother and grandmother were traveling collided with a minibus driven by a 38-year-old man.

For an unknown reason, his vehicle drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a car with a family. As a result of the accident, the baby and his grandmother were seriously injured; the child’s mother received less severe injuries. A few days ago, a grandmother died in the PAGNI intensive care unit, and now her grandson, reports the Athens News Agency. The deceased was the mother of famous chef Stathis Augustakis. Previously he told:

“My mother was going with her nephew and daughter-in-law to visit my sister. As they were driving, a truck hit them at a very high speed and killed them. My mother died from internal bleeding and now we are waiting to see if my nephew will survive. His condition is critical. He is intubated. We hope for a miracle.”
