Attica: 31 arrests and 201 driver’s license seizures in 4 days


The Attica Traffic Authority has stepped up checks on roads at night.

In four days, from January 25 to 28, authorities made 31 arrests and revoked 201 driver’s licenses and traffic permits. 61 vehicles were put on hold and 655 traffic violations were recorded.

Police posts have been placed on roads where traffic accidents are most common. Special inspection teams carried out 2,471 vehicle inspections, focusing on recording dangerous violations. A total of 655 violations were confirmed:

  • 142 for drunkenness,
  • 95 speeding,
  • 3 for dangerous driving,
  • 59 unfastened seat belts,
  • 21 for lack of a driver’s license,
  • 23 lack of KTEO documents,
  • 34 for failure to use a protective helmet,
  • 27 driving through a prohibitory traffic light,
  • 17 for loss of insurance policy,
  • 28 for a tachograph,
  • 2 for talking on a mobile phone while driving,
  • 5 for tinting,
  • 5 for broken (missing) mirrors,
  • 7 on license plates (a number of claims),
  • 44 expired driver’s licenses,
  • 14 for noise due to lack of muffler
  • 160 other violations.

As noted, operational actions to ensure traffic safety on the entire road network of Attica will be strengthened.
