Two policemen arrested for leaking footage of Zambunis’ execution

The Internal Investigation Service of the Greek Police arrested two policemen for leaking to the media a video of the execution of the leader of the mafia group Vangelis Zambunis in the Neos Kosmos area.

As MEGA found out, the police knew about two executions and about a new redistribution of power in the leadership of organized crime, which began in June 2023. Police had known for months that the next target in a series of mafia executions would be Vangelis Zambunis, who was killed Sunday morning outside the gas station he managed.

In particular, two police officers were arrested under the autoforo (quick arrest) procedure, who allegedly admitted that they recorded and transmitted to the media a video of the execution of a 44-year-old mafioso, who was killed on Saturday morning near a gas station in Neos Kosmos.

Those accused of disclosing official secrets have been sent into custody to appear in court. At the same time, copies of the case materials were seized to investigate the leak of a video recording of the moment of the murder of the mafioso.

Journalist Vassilis Lambropoulos reported this in the main news release of the MEGA TV channel. According to police, before the execution he knew about the order to kill Vassilis Rumpetis, who was killed in June last year near his home in Korydallos along with his best man.
