Colonel of the Russian Guard Sergei Volkov received six years in prison in Russia for poor protection of the Crimean Bridge.
About it reports publication “Country” with reference to Russian media. The 2nd Western District Military Court of the Russian Federation found him guilty in the case of the purchase of faulty Orel-UAV systems.
Volkov was detained in March 2023. As the investigation established, he was warned at the plant that the purchased drone systems had limited functionality and therefore could not perform tasks to identify small drones. The result of the purchase was the refusal of the Russian Guard to use UAVs within a month after commissioning.
Sergei Volkov was sentenced to six years in a general regime colony. The prosecutor asked to sentence him to seven years in prison and to deprive him of the rank of colonel, but they did not deprive him of state awards.
