A fine of 1,500 euros for drivers who smoke while driving a car


Drivers who smoke while driving will fined 1,500 eurosand this applies not only to the driver of the car, but also to any other passenger who smokes in the presence of a child under 12 years of age in the vehicle.

If it is a vehicle intended for public use, the fine doubles to 3,000 euros.

In addition, drivers of these vehicles are subject to deprivation of driver’s license for a period of one month for every offense, even if they did not commit the offense themselves, and the adult passenger in the car.

Meanwhile, if the traffic police “catch” the driver, throwing a cigarette out of his carthey can deprive driver’s license violator for 60 days.

A fine can also be imposed by the fire service, as provided for in Resolution No. 19/2020 “On the procedure for imposing administrative fines for violating the regulations of fire safety legislation.”

The minimum fine imposed is 200 euros, and the amount of the fine depends on the risk category, i.e. from the well-known fire risk map of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.
