The Kremlin left without comment the US statement on the supply of North Korean missiles to the Russian Federation

Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesman, did not comment on the supply of missiles from the DPRK.

At a briefing on January 9, he accused Ukraine of striking Russian territory with the help of Western weapons, and when asked how he would comment on Washington’s statement, he briefly answered: “No way. We leave it without comment.” Instead, Peskov accused Kyiv of carrying out strikes on Russian territory using Western weapons, quotes edition “Correspondent”:

“I would like to draw your attention to the fact that on our territory and on civilian objects, in the center of the city of Belgorod on New Year’s Eve, shelling and missiles produced in Germany, France, Italy, the USA and other countries are constantly being carried out. Let’s not forget about this.” .

White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby said that Russia has already used missiles purchased from the DPRK in Ukraine at least twice – on December 30, 2023 and January 2, 2024. According to The Washington Post, North Korea could transfer several dozen ballistic missiles to Russia for attacks on Ukraine. Earlier, the United States received information that the DPRK had transferred another weapons shipment to Russia for the war against Ukraine.

Our edition reported Ukraine provided evidence that Russia fired a North Korean missile at Kharkov. A senior adviser to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said on Friday that Russia struck Ukraine with North Korean missiles for the first time this week. Dmitry Chubenko, a spokesman for the prosecutor’s office, said the missile, one of several that struck Kharkiv on January 2, was visually and technically different from Russian models.

The White House has evidence that the Russian army launched North Korean-made ballistic missiles into Ukraine last week. White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby said this on Tuesday, January 9: “The DPRK recently transferred launchers and several dozen ballistic missiles to Russia. Russia used these missiles against Ukraine last week. Then, on January 6, Russian troops again launched several North Korean ballistic missiles targeting Ukraine. We are still assessing the impact of these attacks, but we can confirm that at least one of them hit Kharkov.”

Kirby added that in this regard, the United States joined a joint statement by the heads of foreign affairs of 47 countries condemning the export from the DPRK and Russia’s purchase of North Korean ballistic missiles, as well as their use in Ukraine.
