Ukraine: massive attack on January 2 on Kyiv and Kharkov

Dozens of Ukrainian residents were injured due to today’s massive attack on Kharkov and Kyiv.

euronews tellsthat in Kyiv rockets hit several apartment buildings. According to the mayor of the Ukrainian capital Vitaliy Klitschko, at least 20 people were injured, 19 of them were taken to hospital.

According to authorities, the shells hit two multi-storey residential buildings in the Solomensky district. In the Pechersky district, rocket debris fell on the roof of a nine-story residential building, another apartment building and a private one. In the Desnyansky district, fragments of a drone fell and a supermarket caught fire. In the Goloseevsky district, debris fell in a park, in Obolonsky – on non-residential buildings and warehouses. In the Podolsk region, a gas pipeline, a civil infrastructure facility and a water supply system were damaged, and at least six cars caught fire. Fires broke out in a market, a warehouse and a residential building. A fire occurred at a Tesla dealership.

During a massive attack on Kharkov on the morning of January 2, a woman was killed and more than 40 were wounded. There are hits in residential areas of the city. The mayor of Kharkov, Igor Terekhov, wrote on Telegram:

“There are several arrivals in the center of Kharkov, in residential areas. There is now a fire there, rescuers have arrived at the scene. Information about the victims is now being clarified.”

Later, at 8:43, the head of the Kharkov Regional State Administration Oleg Sinegubov said:

“About 07:30, the invaders struck the central part of the city of Kharkov, in particular in the Shevchenko district. The type of missiles is being established. As of this minute, more than 20 casualties. One person died.”
