The film crew of the German TV channel ZDF was injured during the shelling of Kharkov

ZDF journalists were injured in a Russian attack on a hotel in Kharkov on December 30. The German journalists are alive, but the Ukrainian translator was seriously injured.

The film crew of the German TV channel was at the Kharkiv Palace hotel in the city center, writes D.W. The translator who worked with her suffered a broken rib and three vertebrae, said Alika Jung, one of the ZDF journalists, describing the events of that Saturday evening:

“When I open the door to my room, I see not the large open lobby as usual, but darkness and black smoke. I don’t know if my colleagues are still alive, or what part of this building is still standing. I immediately understand that there is something here – what happened is that I need to get out of here and find my team. When we leave the building after the end of the air raid, we see that there is now a huge hole in it. A Russian missile flew straight into the building. The lobby is littered with debris, a chandelier has fallen from the ceiling, the windows knocked out.”

The administration of the Jung Hotel said that of the 15 rooms that were rented out at the hotel, 10 were occupied by journalists. The journalist states:

“In Ukraine, we, like most foreigners, spent the night in hotels that have safe shelters. But it turned out that there are no safe places in Ukraine.”

Let us remind you that on the evening of December 30, the Russian army attacked Kharkov missiles and drones. As a result, local authorities said, buildings in the city center were damaged: cafes, residential buildings and offices, and the water supply network was disrupted.
