Law enforcement officers handcuffed a 75-year-old driver who violated all COCs by driving dangerously through Athens.

The police spotted him yesterday morning while he was driving along the street. Vasilissis Sophias is at the intersection with Akademias and did not stop at the signal. The chase began. Next, the man crossed Kolonaki, Ampelokipi, Mesogeion Ave. and Attiki Odos, moving extremely dangerously, and the police pursued him. He violated countless red traffic lights and drove on sidewalks, endangering pedestrians and other road users. Finally he stopped at Pallini.

The arrested driver was fined 12,560 euros and his driving license was confiscated for 1,160 days. In addition, the offender was awarded 175 points in ΣΕΣΟ and his license plates were taken away. The car was also confiscated for 400 days.

The detainee was driving a car while intoxicated and committed violations: driving through a red traffic light, driving in the opposite direction on a one-way street, violating the double dividing strip, etc. The citizen was subject to administrative penalties fines totaling EUR 12,560. In addition, for the deprivation (for life) of a driving license, the established procedure and notification to the competent authorities will be followed.

The detainee was taken to the Athens criminal prosecutor’s office.
