Athens: bloody shooting incident outside a nightclub in Gazi (video)

A video document showing minute-by-minute shooting near a famous nightclub in the Athens district of Gazi is gaining views on the Internet. Three were wounded and hospitalized, one is in serious condition in intensive care.

The conflict occurred between a group of young people from Crete who came to a “bachelor party” in Athens – their friend was getting married on December 29, and unknown criminals who drove up in a black jeep and, after a fight with the Cretans, opened fire. The video published by alert_news.gr recorded a fight on the street in front of the club and cold-blooded targeted shooting.

How tells CNN Greece, a group of 6-7 Cretans were walking and passing on the street past various nightclubs. At about 03:00 on Saturday early morning they went into a store on Evadnisa and Piraeus streets, at about 06:00 they left and went to eat at a pizzeria located on Yahua Street, next to a famous nightclub.

A little later a black jeep pulled up. The car stopped a little further, two people got out and approached – probably a foreigner and a local resident. One of them hit a young man from the Cretan group, the rest reacted, and a fight ensued. As a result, the second person who arrived in the car pulled out a pistol and opened fire in their direction.

As a result of the incident, three people aged 28-33 were injured, one was hospitalized in serious condition. All three are in G. Gennimatas with head injuries.

The material recorded on CCTV cameras, as well as the DNA of the perpetrators of the bloody episode, which occurred at dawn in Gazi, is expected to lead to the disclosure of the identities of the criminals. Police hope they can identify a dark-colored Jeep from the images, which is currently unidentified. However, the information indicates that the vehicle has been rented and the company has already been established.

Police recovered criminal DNA left on the clothing of one of the victims when the criminals approached and punched him in the face. The police are considering all possible scenarios for the development of events. For example, there was a dispute within the club shortly before the shooting occurred, and an investigation is being conducted into whether it is related to the incident.

It is possible that we are talking about settling scores related to the nightclub. Athens security officials are expected to go to the hospital to take statements from the victims.

At the scene, police found four shell casings that will be sent for ballistic testing. However, authorities believe that the young people encountered the wrong people in the wrong place, as they were probably bandits robbing stores in the area. For this reason, an investigation was carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office Δίωξη Εκβιαστών.

According to the latest information, one of the three wounded young people is in very serious condition, and the other two have serious injuries. It’s about two brothers and their friend. The brothers are 28 and 33 years old, and their friend is 28 years old. A thirty-three-year-old man has undergone head surgery and is admitted to the intensive care unit, while two others also have head injuries and are likely to undergo surgery if doctors deem it necessary. They are currently being treated at the hospital’s neurosurgery clinic.

Relatives of the victims are in Athens. One of the wounded people testified to the police that his group did not say anything to the driver and passenger of the jeep when the vehicle passed by the place where they were. However, he said, the jeep stopped and two people got out, one of whom hit one of them. Another man then approached them with a gun in his hand and shot all three of them in the heads.
