An accident in Paleo Faliro, when a car on Poseidonos Avenue lost control and drove onto the sidewalk at high speed, took the life of a 50-year-old woman. Her husband is intubated with multiple injuries.
Their son says: “My mother died instantly, and my father is fighting for his life.” He says that his parents came from Zakynthos to Athens on business. Before the tragedy, they had lunch at a cafe on the beach and were returning to the hotel where they were staying, waiting on the sidewalk near the Edem tram stop for a green traffic light.
Witnesses to an accident describe the crazy course of the car, which knocked down poles and pedestrians, and crashed into a passing tram, the driver of which says: “I didn’t know what happened. He crashed into the tram at high speed and pushed it off the rails. I didn’t understand anything.”
