A lucky lottery ticket with a million-dollar winnings lay in the trash for 4 months

An American from Michigan “didn’t see” the winnings of two million dollars and carelessly threw the lottery ticket into a box of unnecessary papers.

The lucky ticket lay there for four long months, until the wife asked her husband to go to the store and check her tickets. The man also took his old ones, and after scanning them, he suddenly saw a message about a big win, writes UPI.

A 29-year-old Michigan County man said he bought his $20 scratch ticket at the Shepherd EZ Mart on East Wright Avenue, and when he didn’t see the winnings, he threw it in the junk drawer:

“Sometimes after work I stop to take part in the instant lottery. About four months ago I bought another ticket, but when I took off the protective film, I didn’t see the winning combination of numbers, so I threw the paper in the box.”

The American said that about a week ago his wife gave him some new lottery tickets so that he could check them. He decided to take the box to check the results of previous drawings again:

“When I scanned it, I immediately received a message telling me to claim my winnings. Then I noticed the words ‘2 million dollars’ at the bottom and I was speechless. It’s a miracle this ticket didn’t end up in the trash.”

The winner will not spend the jackpot on big purchases, but will save it for the family for the future.
