The number of requests from foreigners looking for holiday accommodation in our country has increased by approximately 15%.
According to data from the Spitogatos platform for the third quarter of 2023, presented at the recent Prodexpo exhibition, Chalkidiki is in first place in the search for housing, followed by the Cyclades, Kavala, Corfu, the outskirts of Thessaloniki, the southern suburbs of Athens and the center of the capital. The top ten regions of Greece where foreigners are looking for holiday accommodation are completed by the Dodecanese, the rest of Attica, Messinia and Chania.
Prices, judging by the same data, increased compared to last year, but at a lower rate than in the rest of the real estate market. Compared to the rest of the country, prices for holiday home sales rose 4.7% and rental prices rose 3%. However, depending on the region, such as in Paros, price increases reach double digits. It is worth noting that 2 out of 10 properties across the country are classified as holiday homes in the total number of published listings.
In terms of the number of nationalities looking for holiday accommodation in Greece, Germans take first place, followed by Americans and British, and Bulgarians and Serbs round out the top five. The French, Dutch and Israelis follow, with the Canadians and Australians in 9th and 10th place respectively. It should be noted that, according to the same analysis, the demand for holiday homes in Greece is 85% generated within the country and 15% from abroad.
