Archbishop Theodosius on the attack on the church: “We are living in a Holocaust accompanied by propaganda”

Archbishop Theodosius of Sebaste called for an immediate end to the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip following the recent Israeli airstrike on the Church of St. Porphyrios.

He noted that hundreds of people remain buried under rubble. “The building of the church committee, which is located directly opposite the Church of St. Porphyry, was damaged. Several people from the Orthodox community of Gaza took refuge there, who had nowhere else to go. At the moment, we, unfortunately, have confirmed the death of 20 of our parishioners, whom we know were with us until yesterday.”

“The search for survivors and bodies continues. But in war conditions, as you understand, there are not many resources, the process is proceeding with obstacles. But even now, as we speak, people are being taken out, so the list of dead will grow.”said Archbishop Theodosius.

Asked if there was any warning, he said: “It wasn’t. But, as you know, the day before yesterday the hospital, which is located very close to the temple, was attacked. About 500 people died there, including many children. There was an Anglican church inside the hospital. Since then, our fear has intensified because that we realized that Israel does not respect us.

I therefore call for an immediate ceasefire. Every day people are killed who have nothing to do with the conflicts. And on both sides. People were killed here, persecuted people who came to us because they had nowhere to go. In the last few days we have witnessed the Holocaust, accompanied by a generous dose of propaganda, mainly from the Western media, which sees Hamas everywhere. The world doesn’t know the whole truth”concluded the Archbishop of Sebastia.

Let us recall that earlier Metropolitan Alexy of Gaza announced 18 dead among the victims of the Israeli attack on the St. Porphyry complex of buildings.
